The Smart village – Nepal

Nepal is highly vulnerable to the potential negative impacts of climate change. Temperatures are rising, the monsoon season is changing, and floods and landslides are a menace to both human lives and food production. The Smart Villages are villages whose dwellers were trained to adopt organic farming, and integrate low-tech and modern technologies in order to tackle this issue.

The Smart Villages have been developed as part of the Himalayan Climate Chang Adaptation Programme, a collaboration among the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), the Center for International Climate and Environmental Research—Oslo and GRID-Arendal.
